This workshop offers examples of critical diversity, equity, and inclusion pedagogy for our youngest learners by involving participants in engaging activities and dialogue.  Participants will be introduced to the value of having conversations with young children around identity and reflect on the impact of teacher identity in the classroom.  They will also be introduced to lessons that teach belonging and encourage teachers to help students develop a healthy sense of self in order to see the importance of addressing feelings and behaviors around belonging and exclusion.  Video and visual project samples from elementary classrooms engaging in social action projects will be shared.  Participants will take away strategies for developing preschool-early elementary curriculum around race, identity, and activism.

This workshop is being held in collaboration with STAR NET Region V.
