This webinar will briefly cover the characteristics of Autism and Related Disabilities and their specific impact on development and use of social skills for young children. Research, supports, concrete examples, and use of classroom materials to promote and strengthen social interaction skills will be presented. Participants will have limited work planning time to organize ideas and action plan next steps for implementation of social skills activities and supports specific to their environment, staff and population.

  • Participants will understand specifics of the impact of Autism and related dis-abilities on social skills development for young children.
  • Participants will gain knowledge of research based supports that are shown to be effective in supporting social skills development in your children.
  • Participants will learn how to use visual supports and structured activities to increase social interaction skills within 1:1 and small group activities.
  • Participants will plan for implementation of structured play activities for independence and social interaction.
