Children, Trauma, Behaviors and a Pandemic

This presentation will examine the impact of childhood exposure to interpersonal violence and other forms of psychiatric trauma as it relates to enhanced developmentally appropriate sensitive and targeted assessment and related intervention. Participants will examine the common manifest behaviors in children exposed to a various array of traumatic events (and how the COVID pandemic has magnified this situation).

Learner objectives

To examine the contemporary trends and issues of childhood responses to traumatic events

To identify the developmental differences of traumatic presentations as they complete targeted yet sensitive assessment

To produce developmental therapeutic interventions that are congruent to the type and form and frequency of the trauma
