Are you a general educator new to teaching students with disabilities? Or a special educator who is seeking ways to create better inclusive experiences for students? Or possibly a speech therapist or occupational therapist who is increasingly providing push-in services in Pre-K classrooms? If you replied “yes” to any of these questions, this webinar is for you.

This session is focused on teacher-tested ideas that are easy to implement, appropriate for young children (e.g., video modeling, AAC for all, planning in reverse) and can be used to plan lessons and provide practice for social and communication skills. Viewers will learn why inclusive classrooms are so powerful for all students and be introduced to ideas that work for children with disabilities (and those without identified needs). Tools that can be used to implement the strategies will also be shared.

Learner objectives
  • Recognize the why of inclusion as it relates to current educational research
  • Investigate strategies including video modeling, visual supports, and AAC to support positive behavior, engagement, and social connection.
  • Use “special interests” as teaching tools.
  • Recommend effective ways to use paraprofessionals in inclusive classrooms.
