Core vocabulary contains highly functional and flexible words that allow emerging communicators to express a variety of functions. This school year brings along a new challenge of not only helping young children acquire vocabulary, but in many cases doing this across a distance. This workshop will highlight a dozen high frequency core vocabulary words, and provide parents and professionals with the tools and resources they need to engage young communicators in engaging, meaningful and targeted interventions through distance learning methods.

Learner objectives

- Choose target words that allow for expression of a variety of communicative functions.

- Understand that authentic and repeated experiences help emerging communicators develop richer vocabularies.

- Utilize multi-media resources to enhance lesson delivery through distance learning.
