In this webinar we will demonstrate musical versions of picture books and provide a list of books that have been adapted to include music, as well as provide tools to incorporate a rhythmic or musical element in future books. There will be an emphasis on books that encourage diversity and inclusion, written by authors of diverse ethnic, cultural and racial heritages and/or feature protagonists that reflect minority communities. Bilingual and Spanish Language examples included! You will leave this webinar with at least four titles you can immediately use in your classes, a list of 10 more with available versions or methods for use and a greater understanding of the picture book form as a tool for literacy, social emotional development and diversity and inclusion.

Learner objectives
  • Demonstrate picture books to be used in online programming with a music element
  • Give examples of supplemental activities and guides to other books
  • Adapt strategies to future books in this style
