This webinar will include an overview of communication and language in young children with autism and ideas for assessing or monitoring communication in this population. It will also introduce a variety of evidence-based practices that can support communication and language in real-world settings like school and day care with specific examples of how to use the evidence-based practices in every day activities. The webinar will include freely available resources for learning and implementing the practices that support language and communication.
(1) Attendees will be able to describe communication and language characteristics of young children on the autism spectrum and different ways to assess communication and language.
(2) Attendees will be able to identify evidence-based practices that support language and communication in children with autism including activities that can be used in classroom settings.
(3) Attendees will be able to locate free resources to support implementation of evidence-based practices for language and communication.
